The genitive case is when we add ’s to show that something belongs to another or a type of relationship between things.
Examples
Jensen’s house.
Your sister’s dog.
It is Anna's ball.
It is the dog's bone.
It is the girl's pen.
Charles's dog is nice.
Felix's car is black.
Plural nouns ending with s only add ' at the end of the noun.
Examples
The three brothers’ house is next to mine.
The plumbers’ cars were rusty.
The players’ boots were smelly and dirty after the game yesterday.
If there are two owners of something, we add 's to the final name:
Jocke and Nicole’s car is quite new.
But, if each person owns a car, then add 's to both names:
Jocke’s and Nicole’s cars are quite new.
